This, the latest single from Eastbourne noise duo, the Bitter Pills, is a corker. Guitarist Nico Sc’erri and drummer Chris Cooper who were once the rhythm section of psychobilly band Knocksville have been plying their trade as a two-piece for some years now. The sound that the two manage to produce is immense, they can perhaps best be described as a jet-fuelled version of the Black Keys crossed with the Queen’s of the Stone Age.
This single is absolutely relentless from first bar til last, it is a rollicking ride of heavy riffing and characteristically pounding drums. Indeed, musically, it is spot on and in terms of energy it is utterly pulverising. ‘No more games and no more lie, come on and set me free.’ This is a colossal track that hopefully will usher in the long-awaited album, it has certainly left me hungry for more.
