How do we know it’s finally autumn? Ed Cavin & The Blue Kings drop a release! We joke, of course, but it’s been nearly a full year since the Swedish primitive rockabillies released one of their top-tapping energy-shot singles, and we’re delighted they’re back.

There’s more than a hint of The Bellfuries in ‘Hitch A Ride’ woven into Cavin’s sweet and lonely vocals and their rootsy approach. If we told you this was an undiscovered classic that had been found in an attic somewhere and cleaned up for airplay, you’d believe us: these guys really get the music they’re making on a very fundamental level.

On the flip side, we’ve got ‘Missfix’, with a massive Tennessee Trio influence and a welcome reminder that no one can ever really get enough of a swampy girls-and-cars song. Both tracks are charming, energetic and sound like a sepia photo, and we love that about these guys. They’re on tour constantly through Sweden and mainland Europe, and absolutely worth a road trip to check out live.
