Love them or fear them, the enigmatic Killer Tone Jones returns with ‘Electric’: fourteen tracks of raw Rock n Roll recorded in two days with the goal of capturing the live garage energy that explodes from their shows.

The good news? They’ve accomplished their goal and then some. The near-live recording approach has breathed new life into seasoned favourites like ‘Bad Barbie’ and ‘Crush The Bone’, with even more sinister surf waves and a bass groove that’ll get even a severed foot tapping. In amongst the grimy gems we’ve got ‘Formaldehyde’, their take on the classic mad scientist tale albeit with riffs for days and the scent of The Cramps wafting through the air.
If you’re a fan of gruesome and gorgeous reanimated re-imaginings, then you’ll dig their almost-rockabilly take on Depeche Mode’s ‘Personal Jesus’, albeit with a distinctly junkyard energy and one hell of a swampy guitar solo. Kraftwerk’s ‘The Model’ gets the Killer Tone Jones treatment as well, with whispered menace and so much echo pulsing from the iconic melody.
For those new to the cult of Killer Tone Jones, ‘Electric’ serves as the perfect primer to their live shows and the wall of garage darkness that emanates from their back catalogue. Of course, if you think you’ve heard half the songs already, rest assured that this new recording will set your spine tingling just like the sound did the first time you heard Killer Tone Jones.
