Meet the Graveyard Mutants: rockin from Spain’s graveyards to a town near you!
We started around 2019 to meet and to play together: first, just some covers of bands we like and we hadn’t decided a name for the band yet. Then the Pandemic struck, and later some work/ family issues got us away from the rehearsal room, so I guess it was around 2022 that we started really: started to rehearse regularly and started to write our own songs.
Who’s in the Graveyard Mutants?
David on slap bass and lead vocals, who came from Smell of Kat, the neo-rockabilly band who started in 1994. We released a lot of stuff and played around the world. He was also in Calamitiez, who were more on the psychobilly side. They also released two CDs and one LP on Crazy Love Records and gigged around Europe.
Julio on guitar, who after playing with the punk rock band Hi-fi Killers and rockin with some bands, started Calamitiez with David
Our first drummer, Miguel, who came from punk rock background, played on our first GM gig and recorded our first 7″EP, had to move for work reasons and Óscar, with a rockin background, came in, has played and recorded with us ever since.

What’s your sound like?
We’ve been described as a mix of Neo Rockabilly and old school Psychobilly, and we think it is pretty accurate! We describe ourselves as a Mutant Rockabilly band.
We love the Meteors! In fact, we play ‘Graveyard Stomp’ and ‘Mutant Rock’ live on every gig, just in case, someone needs a little help to guess where our name comes from! We also have some more covers on our setlist that can give you an idea: we do some Ricochets, Fireball XL5, Rattlers, Es Feivm and we use to cover Batmobile and The Sharks too when we started. We are influenced by everything rockin, mainly all those bands that in the early eighties started to play rockabilly in their own way.
What are your highlights?
We’ve been very lucky I guess, realising two 7″EPs on the legendary Crazy Love Records label, and playing twice at the famous Psychobilly Meeting. The Psychobilly scene in Spain has never been big, few bands and not a lot of audience, but luckily we have the Psychobilly Meeting that has been putting Spain on the Psychobilly map for more than 30 years now!
Our first gig abroad was at the fantastic Bedlam Breakout Festival in Northampton (UK) and one month later we played at the amazing OTMAPP fest in Oberhausen in Germany, as well as the first Psychobilly Kicks back Cancer in Spain. Locally we are lucky to have the Atomic RnR Club/ Garage 1950s venue that always supported us and invited us to play there several times! Already talking with some promoters around Europe for more highlights next year! Promoters get in touch! We are ready, willing and able, and we’re the perfect soundtrack for a Mutant Rockabilly Jamboree!
