Never has an album been quite so incorrectly named: Arizona’s Shake Bombs are getting it absolutely right.

Between originals like ‘Baby, Put Your Coffee On’ – a song guaranteed to wake you up – and title track ‘Doing It Wrong’, we’re struck by how much the sound of the classics has infused these guys through the desert winds. They might sound cool on record, but there’s a fire in their live shows which can spark a dancefloor.

‘Doing It Wrong’ is also a record full of surprises. Sure, there’s rock n roll aplenty, but the ska beat on ‘Kansas City’ is a fun innovation that puts a spring in your step. Nobody expected a Jungle Book moment via their smooth take on ‘I Wanna Be Like You’, unleashing an orangutan blues that we didn’t know we needed. Similarly, their take on ‘Wreck Of The Old 97’ is all their own with a beat bound to get your feet moving. You can just tell that they love what they do, and that passion runs through every note. Even George Gershwin’s ‘Summertime’ gets the Shake Bombs treatment, and no one could have expected this one would work in such a classy way.

We can’t wait to see what the Shake Bombs get up to next once they step out of their south west playground and into the big stages!
