Dead Hombres comprises of the following band of musical desperados:

Nigel Heaslewood aka Nasty Nige Hombre – lead vocals, guitars

Traci Heaslewood aka Traci Gotíca Hombre – bass guitar, vocals

Kev Stagg aka Kowboy Kev Hombre – drums, vocals

The band were formed in 2019 by Nigel and Traci with a slightly different line up which included a second guitarist and drums. We played various gigs right up until Lockdown in 2020 confined us all to our homes. Whilst in isolation Nigel and Traci converted their spare bedroom into a home studio where they continued to write and demo new material for the band.

Fast forward to the end of the restrictions of movement and we were back down to a single guitarist and in 2021 Jeff Emsley aka Gringo Starr joined the band full time on drums.

Although not typically a Psychobilly band we were quickly adopted onto the UK Psychobilly scene who welcomed our brand of primal, trashy rock and roll with open arms and wreckin’ elbows! We have made so many great friends across the scene since, musicians, djs, audience members alike

Sadly in 2024 Jeff had to retire from the band due to health issues and after a short search we welcomed Kev Stagg to the drum stool who completes the current line up.

It the 1980’s (Yes, THAT long ago!) Nigel was in poppy rock and roll band Zero Zero who were signed to Virgin Records and then promptly dropped after six moths. He later went on to form his own successful sleazy rock and roll band, the London based The Gasoline Queens. Nigel also went on to join a later version of  UK sleaze-rockers The Dogs D’Amour and also played lead guitar for lead-Dog Tyla’s solo band for a couple of years. Oh and by the way, he’s really not so Nasty…

Traci dabbled with several original rock bands before becoming a founding member of the hard working North East rock covers band Fizzyfish. She worked with them for 18 years, often playing up to 50 gigs per year. She eventually moved to Surrey with a view to rekindling the spirit of original music once more. She nearly joined The March Violets in 2015(ish?) to be part of their planned UK and US tours – unfortunately this was not meant to be.

Kev was part of the Psychobilly bands The Marksmen and also The NightZonerZ before taking up his position behind the kit for Dead Hombres.

We have all grown up listening to classic, early rock and roll music and early punk rock we have some wide ranging influences. These especially include (but not restricted to) The Cramps, Link Wray, The Gun Club, early Damned, Johnny Cash, Social Distortion and many more. We are constantly on the lookout for new established or up and coming bands and love to hear new, fresh sounds, new people to engage with. On that note we are always happy to share a stage with anyone who will have us! Especially interesting and engaging creatives. Big or small, we are all just people with a passion for music. We love to share and encourage everyone we get the opportunity to work alongside.

We were honoured to be asked by Ginger Meadham to play Psychobilly Kicks Back this year. Such a fantastic gig for a great cause indeed and so many great friends there too. Seeing so many of the Psychobilly scene coming together to help to raise funds is a beautiful, humbling experience.

In 2024 Dead Hombres realeased our debut album Guns, Gamblers and Ghosts. Most of the material was already written and was in our live set, we just knew they needed to be recorded. Each of the tracks were recorded, engineered and produced by Nigel’s son Brett Heaslewood (soundsbyheazy.com). Drums and ghost tracks were recorded at QM Studios in Horsham, Sussex. Bass parts were laid down in Brett’s home studio also in Horsham. Guitars were recorded at Nigel and Tracis home studio in Leatherhead, Surrey. On the album we had additional guitar player Rufio Rodriguez who played a few live shows with us at the time and who may also guest with us in the future! Finally we tracked the vocals, backing vox and associated stories, chants and hollers at Pirate Studios in Hove, Sussex.

Traci (being a working tattoo artist) creates all of the band’s artwork, logos, posters, merch, so she also received the arduous task of producing the album artwork. It’s dark and moody aesthetic blending with the bands sound, so much so that were you to zoom into the bottles behind the bar they bear the names of each of the album tracks.

The completed album – of which we are very proud – is now available on all major streaming platforms and as a physical CD via our Bandcamp page or at a gig near you.

When it comes to playing live we don’t really have a favourite, we enjoy them all! It’s a treat seeing how new audiences react to each song or which one established followers are eagerly awaiting. We really do enjoy launching into our cover of Link Wray’s Rumble at the end of the set when Nigel and Traci both climb down into the crowd to enjoy the atmosphere while Kev keeps the beats throbbing and visually takes centre stage.

The highlight of Dead Hombres career must be the release of our long awaited debut album, and managing to make it a full 12 tracks to boot! We had been promising an album for so long. We poured heart and soul into it for almost a year, it’s been quite precious to us. We’ve learned a lot from the experience and can’t wait to record again.

So what does the future hold for Dead Hombres? We have plenty of gigs coming up all over the country which we are looking forwards to playing. We have been working on new material. As soon as we have sold enough merch to raise the required funds we should be recording at least a four track EP of new songs.
